2021 Founding

In school physical education program at The Nueva School. 

 Through professional teaching artists and exemplary programming students will be able to: 

 

  • Increase flexibility through focused stretches 

  • Build agility through rehearsed movement phrases

  • Strengthen their core through targeted exercise 

  • Foster individuality and creative expression 

  • Learn choreography from multiple genres

2022 Expansion Plan

In 2022, ZiRu Dance will expand its education programming into Title 1 schools in the Peninsula area. With your support in the Empowered to Move! Campaign, ZiRu will provide professional teaching artists and innovative programming to schools with students who receive meal assistance. ZiRu's programming and teachers will be provided at a free or reduced price.

Lydia Feuerhelm, ZiRu Dance Teaching Artist at The Nueva School

Lydia Feuerhelm is a movement artist, dance teacher, and arts administrator.  Her passion for performing arts started at a young age, and has remained a guiding force throughout her life. She graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a BA in dance in 2014, and after graduation danced with a variety of local choreographers including Margi Cole and Timothy Buckley, along with teaching and serving as the Studio Director at Ballroom Dance Chicago. Since moving to the Bay Area in 2019, she has worked with Palo Alto Children's Theatre, West Valley Dance Company, Veksler Academy of Music & Dance, Starting Arts, Dragon Productions Theatre Company and Dance Visions, in addition to completing a graduate certificate in Arts Administration in 2020. She currently serves as the Communications Associate for Deborah Slater Dance Theatre and teaches contemporary dance classes throughout the Bay Area.
